Returns
Eligible Items For Return
For the return of an eligible item, email customerservice@cottageandbungalow.com within 10 days of delivery. Please include the reason for the return along with documentation. If not re-packed as it was originally shipped, the shipper or manufacturer will not authorize a return or exchange. With the exception of damaged merchandise, return shipping costs are paid by the customer and will be deducted from the refund.
If the return is authorized, Cottage & Bungalow will send return authorization and instructions. After the customer has received a return authorization, the merchandise must be returned to the manufacturer within twenty (20) days. Returns after this period will not be accepted and no credit will be issued.
Eligible items must be returned unused, in their original packaging. Soiled/used items will be refused and returned to the customer at their expense. Returns on eligible items may incur up to a 30% restocking fee. Refunds are issued in the original payment form and price, less re-stocking fees and shipping charges.
Items NOT Eligible For Return
Orders for custom items (i.e. furniture, jewelry, and monograms) and select lighting, are NOT eligible for return. Please see the "Shipping & Returns" tab on each product page to see if the item is eligible for return. Any product shipped outside of the continental U.S. is not eligible for return or exchange.
Receiving White Glove/Freight Deliveries
Scheduling
Once the customer’s piece is ready to ship, Cottage & Bungalow will select the best freight company for delivery. The freight company will call/email to schedule delivery once they are in the customer’s service area. Freight companies typically create their delivery schedules 4-7 days in advance. If the customer has any major scheduling constraints (i.e. out of town), they should let the Cottage & Bungalow team know ahead of time and these details will be noted with the freight company.
Please note - if the delivery window offered doesn’t work, it will likely be another few weeks before the freight company is in the area again.
Upon Receipt
When an order is delivered via freight (trucking company), the customer should inspect the item before signing the freight company paperwork. Customers should NOT sign the receipt until they have inspected the item.
Damage
While we do our utmost to ensure items arrive in a timely manner and in perfect condition, there are some things that are beyond our control. We would love to be able to say that damage never occurs during transit, but unfortunately, that is not always the case. Our freight companies handle pieces with great care but it is important to understand that from time to time damages do occur.
If a piece arrives damaged, the freight company has the right to have the piece repaired and brought back to the manufacturer's standards at their expense. They do this by sending the piece to a furniture medic or back to the manufacturer for repair. If the freight company determines the piece can not be repaired, the customer has the right to be reimbursed for the order or have another piece shipped out as soon as possible.
Do not sign any shipping documents without recording damage details and taking a photo of the document. Any damage or defect must be reported to Cottage & Bungalow within 24 hours of delivery. Failure to notify Cottage & Bungalow within this timeframe may result in denial of claims.
Cancellation Policy
Orders for custom items like furniture, lighting, jewelry, and monograms, cannot be changed, cancelled or refunded after 48 hours from order placement for any reason, even if it is delayed. The estimated production time given when the order is placed is only an estimate and not a guarantee of when the product will be completed. By placing an order, the customer agrees to these terms.
If the customer decides to cancel an in-stock order, they should call or email us immediately. For cancellations of orders that have already shipped, the customer will be responsible for all shipping costs and transaction fees.
If an item is on backorder, the customer service team will email the customer with the expected timeline for delivery. If the customer service team does not receive a response within 72 hours, the order will be processed. There will be a 5% cancellation fee if an order is cancelled after processing and before it ships out.
Refusal of Delivery
If the customer refuses delivery of the order for any reason other than damage when it reaches the destination, the customer will be charged for all shipping costs, including the cost to return the item to the manufacturer and a 25% restocking fee. The customer will also be charged for any bank credit card fees that have been incurred along with handling and restocking fees imposed on Cottage & Bungalow by our suppliers.
